Description

This manuscript represents a copy of Ta’wilat Ahl al-Sunna, a major theological work by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, the renowned scholar of Samarkand whose ideas shaped Sunni Islamic theology.
Al-Maturidi is recognized as the founder of the Maturidi school of theology, one of the two principal doctrinal traditions of Sunni Islam. His writings address the relationship between reason and revelation and provide rational interpretations of theological principles.
This manuscript represents a later copy of the original work, probably produced in the fourteenth century. The text is written in the naskh script, a clear and highly legible book hand widely used for scholarly manuscripts throughout the Islamic world.
The paper itself also reflects the advanced traditions of papermaking in Central Asia, which played a crucial role in the preservation and transmission of knowledge.
This work illustrates the importance of Mawarannahr as a major intellectual center of Islamic civilization, where theology developed in dialogue with philosophy and the rational sciences.
