Description

This manuscript is a later copy of “Kitab al-Tawhid,” a foundational theological work by Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, a 10th-century scholar from Samarkand.
The text established the principles of Maturidi theology, one of the major schools of Sunni thought. Its core idea is the compatibility of reason and faith: human intellect can recognize the existence of the Creator, while revelation defines belief and practice.
This approach shaped a rational theological framework within Islamic scholarship.
The manuscript you see is an 18th-century copy written in naskh script, known for its clarity and precision, making it suitable for scholarly use.
The compact format indicates that such books functioned as practical study tools in madrasas.
The artifact reflects the enduring intellectual tradition of Central Asia, where theological texts remained subjects of study and transmission for centuries.
