Description

This manuscript represents a copy of Nawādir al-Usul, a work by Muhammad ibn Ali al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi, one of the most influential scholars and spiritual thinkers of ninth-century Central Asia.
Al-Tirmidhi was given the honorary title al-Hakim, meaning “The Wise,” reflecting his reputation for profound theological and spiritual insight. His writings focus on the inner meanings of hadith and the spiritual dimensions of faith.
Although the original text dates to the early Islamic period, this manuscript represents a later copy. The use of the nastaʿliq script suggests production in Iran or Central Asia during a later cultural flourishing, possibly in the Timurid or post-Timurid era.
The leather binding with stamped medallions reflects the refined traditions of Islamic book arts and indicates the importance attributed to such texts.
This manuscript highlights the role of Central Asia as a major intellectual center of Islamic scholarship.
