Description
This manuscript is a handwritten copy of one of the most important works in Islamic scholarship — the “Sunan of al-Tirmidhi,” compiled by the 9th-century scholar Abu ‘Isa al-Tirmidhi.
It is one of the six canonical collections of hadith in Sunni Islam. Its distinctive feature lies in its analytical approach: al-Tirmidhi evaluates the reliability of traditions and relates them to legal interpretation.
The work thus functions not only as a collection of sayings, but as a structured guide for legal reasoning.
This particular copy is written in nastaliq script, known for its fluid lines and aesthetic refinement, typical of Central Asian and Persian manuscript culture.
The density of the text and marginal notes indicate that such manuscripts were actively used in scholarly settings.
The artifact reflects a defining principle of Islamic civilization in Central Asia: the transmission of knowledge through books as dynamic spaces of interpretation and study.
