Description

This is a museum representation of the Maqam Ibrahim, one of the most significant sacred objects in Islam.
The original is located in Mecca, within the courtyard of the Masjid al-Haram, near the Kaaba. It is a stone associated with the Prophet Ibrahim, traditionally believed to have been used during the construction of the Kaaba.
The object displayed here represents not the stone itself, but its protective architectural casing. This structure, often polygonal in form, is covered with richly decorated textiles featuring calligraphy and ornamental patterns.
The Maqam Ibrahim is explicitly mentioned in the Qur’an as a place connected to ritual prayer. Pilgrims perform prayer near it after completing the circumambulation of the Kaaba.
This exhibit reflects both the religious significance of the object and the refined artistic traditions used to frame and honor sacred space.
