Description
This decorative panel features the Ayat al-Kursi, one of the most significant verses of the Qur’an, reflecting on divine authority and knowledge.
The composition is organized around a central medallion containing the name of Allah, surrounded by the text of the verse arranged in a calligraphic band combined with vegetal ornament.
The panel is executed in gold embroidery, one of the most prestigious techniques of Islamic decorative arts. The relief effect of the letters is achieved by placing padding beneath the metal threads, which are then secured to the textile surface.
Such works reflect the traditions of artistic centers across the Islamic world, including Central Asia, where gold embroidery reached a particularly high level of refinement, especially in Bukhara.
Historically, Qur’anic inscriptions in interiors served both decorative and devotional purposes, reinforcing the spiritual environment of the space.
This panel demonstrates the unity of calligraphy, ornament, and craftsmanship characteristic of Islamic art.
