Description

This large-format panel features the Ayat al-Kursi, one of the most important verses of the Qur’an.
Unlike vertical compositions, this work employs an elongated horizontal format typical of architectural friezes. Such panels were traditionally placed along upper walls or above entrances, forming a continuous band of sacred text.
The central field is filled with monumental calligraphy, close to the thuluth style. The script is integrated with ornamental elements, forming a unified decorative surface. Circular medallions with the name of Allah frame the composition on both sides.
The panel is executed in gold embroidery. The relief of the letters is achieved through padding beneath metallic threads fixed onto the surface.
This work exemplifies a key principle of Islamic art: the integration of text, ornament, and architectural space into a coherent visual system.
