Description

This ceramic bowl dates to the 12th century and is associated with the Khwarazmshah period in Central Asia.
The interior features a figural composition arranged within a circular format. Seated figures, birds, and fantastic animals appear around a central tree motif. Along the rim runs an ornamental inscription in stylized script, integrated into the decorative program.
The surface is decorated in polychrome glazes, including turquoise, cobalt, and ochre tones. The combination of figural imagery and inscription reflects ceramic traditions of the region during this period.
Bowls of this type were produced in urban workshops and demonstrate the technical and artistic capabilities.
The bowl reflects a synthesis of local traditions and the common Islamic artistic language of the 12th century, a time when Khorezm was becoming one of the key cultural centers of Central Asia.
