Description
This ceramic bowl was made in the 11th century, during the period of the Khwarazmshahs, when cities in Central Asia were active centers of craft and trade.
Its form is balanced and practical, suitable for serving food during meals. The surface is decorated with geometric patterns and stylized figures, painted in mineral pigments over a light slip. The design is carefully arranged, creating a clear and harmonious composition. Such decor is typical of the cultural environment of Khorezm, where Iranian, Turkic and Islamic traditions intersected.
Bowls of this type were used both in urban environments, in the homes of the nobility and artisans, and in the more mobile context of trade routes. Through such objects, a visual culture was formed in which beauty, function and meaning were inseparable.
This exhibit belongs to the exhibition complex dedicated to the Kharazmshahs, and allows you to see how the artistic traditions of the region developed in line with the general Islamic civilization, while maintaining a vibrant local identity.
