Description
This small ceramic jug dates to the 5th–6th centuries CE and was discovered in the Fergana Valley.
Vessels of this type played an important role in everyday domestic life.
Made of fired clay, the jug features a rounded body, a narrow neck, and a functional handle. This form facilitated the controlled pouring of liquids such as water or milk. Its small capacity suggests use within a household context.
Early medieval ceramics from Fergana are characterized by functional clarity and balanced proportions. Even modest objects display skilled craftsmanship, including smooth surfaces, stable bases, and carefully formed profiles.
This jug illustrates the continuity of pottery traditions in the region, where ceramic production constituted an essential element of daily material culture.
