Description
This small vessel dates to the 5th century CE and was discovered in the Fergana region, one of the longstanding cultural centers of Central Asia.
Compact in size and rounded in form, it displays well-proportioned construction. The gently expanding body and carefully shaped neck create a balanced silhouette.
The decoration is restrained. Subtle rows of small impressed dots form intersecting lines across the surface, emphasizing symmetry and visually dividing the vessel into sections.
Vessels of this type were used in daily life for storing and serving water or other liquids. Despite its modest appearance, the piece reflects the developed craftsmanship of Fergana potters, including precise shaping, controlled firing, and careful surface finishing.
This object illustrates how functionality and measured aesthetic design were combined in early medieval ceramics.
