Description

This shield dates to the 17th century CE and reflects the military equipment of Central Asia during this period.
Its circular form was well suited to close combat. The steel surface is engraved with dense vegetal ornament. At the center, four raised bosses strengthen the structure and help deflect blows. A brass rim reinforces the edge and protects it from damage.
Shields of this type continued established martial traditions while also displaying refined metalworking techniques. The engraved decoration enhances the visual character of the surface without compromising its function.
This object illustrates the integration of protection and craftsmanship in early modern arms production.
