Description
This helmet dates to the 15th century CE and reflects the military equipment of Central Asia during the Timurid period.
The domed structure is composed of metal segments joined with rivets. The surface is decorated with engraved lines and applied elements. At the front, a movable nasal guard provides additional facial protection.
The curved form helps deflect the force of impact, while the segmented construction balances strength and weight. Such helmets were designed for both protection and mobility in mounted combat.
In this period, armor could also display decorative features that indicated craftsmanship and, in some cases, status.
This object illustrates the technical and artistic traditions of metalwork in the 15th century CE.
