Description
This water pipe, dating to the 9th–10th centuries, was discovered in Mawarannahr. The pipe was used in water supply and drainage systems. Made of ceramics, it was strong and durable. One end was narrower and the other wider, allowing pipes to be joined together to form long sections (main lines). Similar finds have been uncovered during archaeological excavations in ancient Central Asian cities such as Afrasiab, Termez, and Bukhara. This pipe reflects the high level of engineering and hygiene culture of our ancestors.
