Description
This ceramic jug dates to the 4th–5th centuries CE and was produced in Fergana — a region characterized by established urban and craft traditions during the Late Antique period.
The vessel has an elongated body tapering slightly toward the base and a single solid handle attached at the shoulder. The neck is short, with a thickened rim. The surface lacks elaborate decoration, underscoring its practical function. An incised mark on the wall may represent a household or workshop sign.
Comparable forms have been identified at major sites in the Fergana Valley, including Mingtepa, Akhsikent, and settlements associated with the Eylatan culture, suggesting organized production and exchange networks.
This jug provides insight into everyday life in ancient Fergana, where agriculture, craftsmanship, and urban development formed the foundation of regional historical processes.
