Description
This bronze bravik (coin) was minted in the 7th century during the rule of the Afrighid dynasty in Khwarazm. The Afrighids were among the first dynasties to establish an independent local state in Khwarazm, and their coins reflect the political independence, local craftsmanship, and economic transactions of that era. Measuring 22 mm in diameter, this bronze coin, through its metal composition, minting style, and local epigraphic inscriptions, demonstrates the distinctiveness of Khwarazm’s numismatic art. The coin features a stylized portrait of the ruler, local tamgas, and religious symbols, expressing the beliefs and signs of political authority of the time. The Afrighid bravik holds an important place in the numismatic history of Uzbekistan, providing valuable insights into Khwarazm’s local state structure, trade relations, and cultural heritage.
