Description

This ceramic vessel was produced in the region of ancient Chach between the 2nd and 6th centuries CE. During this period, urban centers in the Tashkent oasis developed actively, and stable craft traditions were established.
The vessel features a rounded body and a slightly flaring rim. Its surface is decorated with geometric ornament applied over an engobed base. The lines form rhythmic triangles and intersecting strokes, creating a composition based on repetition and symmetry.
Such decoration reflects the symbolic visual language characteristic of Chach, where geometry functioned not only as ornament but also as a means of structuring the form. The pattern emphasizes the plastic volume of the vessel and creates a sense of movement around its surface.
The vessel demonstrates the high level of ceramic craftsmanship and the continuity of local artistic traditions in pre-Islamic Central Asia.
