Description

This ceramic jug dates to the 4th–1st centuries BCE, a period associated with the formation of early political entities in the Fergana Valley.
The vessel features a low, nearly spherical body and a short neck that gently flares outward. A single vertical handle connects the rim to the shoulder, facilitating practical use. The surface is decorated with mineral pigments — broad bands and wavy lines applied over a light clay ground. Such painted ornamentation is characteristic of early ancient ceramics from Fergana.
This jug illustrates a stable regional artistic tradition that developed within broader networks of cultural interaction across Central Asia.
