Description
This small ceramic jug dates to the 5th–7th centuries CE and was produced in Fergana.
It belongs to a period in which late antique traditions coexisted with emerging early medieval forms in the region.
The vessel is characterized by an almost spherical body and a short cylindrical neck with a simple, slightly irregular rim. A compact ring handle connects the shoulder to the upper body. Unlike earlier examples with pronounced spouts, this piece emphasizes the unity of its volume.
The surface is matte and light beige, without ornament. Minor irregularities and traces of manual finishing suggest artisanal production.
The jug was likely used for storing and serving water or other beverages in a domestic context. It illustrates the continuity of local ceramic traditions in Fergana and their gradual transformation during the 5th–7th centuries CE.
