Description
This silver drachm, minted around 80–60 BCE, may belong to the coinage traditions of Greco-Bactria or Parthia. The name “Arxebiy” is associated with a ruler, making the coin an important numismatic source for understanding the political structure and economic circulation of the time. Drachms were widely used in trade, especially across Central Asia and Iran, where Greek and local minting styles merged. Measuring 17 mm in diameter, the coin bears epigraphic inscriptions, a ruler’s portrait, or symbolic motifs that reflect the aesthetic taste and metalworking techniques of the era. As an artifact, it provides valuable insights into the ancient world’s economic system, coinage art, and political history, while also shedding light on trade routes, currency systems, and cultural interactions of the pre-Christian era.
