Description
The tetradrachm of Alexander III dates back to 336–323 BCE and was minted during the reign of Alexander the Great. With a diameter of approximately 28 mm, it served as an important instrument of economic exchange. Typically, the coin features the portrait of Alexander III (the Great), depicted as a heroic figure and military leader. On the reverse side, images of birds or noble animals often appear, carrying religious, symbolic, or political meaning. These coins illustrate the expansion, economic strength, and cultural influence of Alexander’s empire. At the same time, they are valued as significant historical documents and serve as invaluable sources for archaeological research.
