Description

This spindle whorl dates to the 1st–5th centuries. Painted with slip and decorated using carving techniques, it measures between 2.6 cm and 5.5 cm in diameter. Such spindle whorls were used by women of that era for spinning thread. The artifact testifies to the antiquity of textile production and highlights the importance of this craft in the lives of Central Asian peoples. It provides valuable information about ancient textile technologies and craftsmanship.
